The life stories included in this new 30th anniversary edition of A Woman's Way through the Twelve Steps are rich in diversity - reflecting differences in age, race, and ethnicity, class, gender, religion, geographic location, occupation, choice of partner, and role as mother. In this new edition, Stephanie Covington has added the voices of transgender women and nonbinary people whose recovery was significantly supported by connecting with women's groups. This compilation of a diverse group of real women's voices and wisdom illuminates how women understand the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and offers inspiring stories of how they have traveled through the Steps and discovered what works for them.
The program A Woman's Way through the Twelve Steps is a thirteen-session curriculum with a facilitator guide and workbook. The experiential exercises help women and gender-diverse people recover from addiction and other compulsive behavior. The program is anchored by the book that has sold more than 450,000 copies (first edition) and offers an illuminating view of how women and gender-diverse people understand and process the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Stephanie has updated the language from the original A Woman's Way to be more inclusive, trauma-sensitive, and more reflective of current values about gender, sexuality, spirituality, and recovery.
We have been providing our live virtual facilitator trainings in response to the need for many staff members to work from home. These trainings are just as interactive, engaging, and impactful and cover all the same content as our in-person, onsite trainings. We've received very positive feedback and look forward to scheduling something for your agency.
