COMING FALL OF 2026!
Women in Recovery is a practical, engaging, and evidence-informed curriculum designed to help women better understand the impact of alcohol and other drugs on their lives while building the knowledge, skills, and hope needed to support lasting recovery. Developed by Dr. Stephanie S. Covington, an internationally recognized pioneer in women's addiction treatment, this newly revised Second Edition reflects more than three decades of research and experience in gender-responsive care.
Grounded in the principles of Interactive Journaling®, the 48-page participant journal encourages women to actively engage in their own recovery through guided reflection, self-assessments, personal writing, and practical exercises. Rather than simply providing information, the journal invites participants to connect new concepts to their own experiences, helping them recognize patterns, identify strengths, and develop meaningful goals for change. Throughout the journal, women are encouraged to examine the role substances have played in their lives while discovering healthier coping strategies and building a stronger foundation for recovery.
The accompanying Facilitator Guide provides counselors, clinicians, peer support specialists, and other helping professionals with practical tools for leading the curriculum in both individual and group settings. It includes facilitation tips, discussion questions, experiential activities, and role-play exercises that encourage participant engagement while supporting a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed learning environment.
Whether used by an individual as a personal recovery resource or implemented in treatment, recovery, or correctional programs, Women in Recovery offers a practical and engaging approach to understanding addiction and supporting lasting change. Participants can work through the journal independently at their own pace, while organizations can use the accompanying Facilitator Guide to deliver the curriculum in individual counseling or group settings.
Whether participants are beginning their recovery journey or strengthening an existing foundation, Women in Recovery provides an opportunity to increase self-awareness, deepen motivation for change, and develop the confidence and skills needed to build healthier, more connected lives.
