Helpful Tips and FAQs for Open Enrollment Training Events

When will I receive the Zoom link and handouts?

You will receive the Zoom link 2 or 3 days before the start of the first training date. The link and handouts will be sent to the email you used to register for the training. This will allow time for you to print materials and collect any needed art supplies.

What if I do not receive the Zoom link and handouts?

Please check your spam or junk folders. Sometimes supervisors register a group of people but do not provide individual e-mails, so check with whoever registered you.

I attend lots of webinars. Is this what this training is like?

Most webinars mute participants and disable features such as chat and video functions. Covington training is the opposite! You can expect interactive training with discussion and several breakout groups. CEU regulations (guidelines) require us to track attendance and active participation (polls and chat), including cameras being turned on during large group discussions and breakout groups. It is not possible to attend this training via phone or while driving a car (most states prohibit distracted driving).

Who should attend the training?

We have a wide variety of people attend our trainings from licensed professionals (Masters and Doctorial Level) as well as paraprofessionals and peer-facilitators. Because professionals tend to work in interdisciplinary teams, this course is created for social workers, counselors, therapists, clinical supervisors, correctional professionals, and program administrators.

Do I need to purchase books or other materials for this training?

You are not required to purchase any books or materials to attend the training. However, if you want to enhance your training with supplemental materials, information on obtaining these will be provided when you register. Please provide the complete mailing or shipping address on your registration form.

Note: Please be cautious when purchasing Dr. Covington’s materials from public websites like Amazon. In the past, we have received complaints about customers receiving used materials, old editions, or incomplete packages (such as missing DVDs from the Beyond Violence facilitator’s guide or workbooks missing from facilitator guides) when ordering from Amazon. Some customers have also complained about large orders not being fulfilled, receiving only partial shipments, and other issues. We have no control over what is offered on public websites and cannot provide assistance or refunds for third-party orders of Dr. Covington’s materials.

What happens if I cannot attend the training?

As with theater and concert tickets, refunds are unavailable for cancellations within 30 days of the training's start date. However, if you notify us at least two weeks before the training, we can transfer your registration to a future training session. You also have the option to transfer your paid spot to a colleague.

What happens if I can’t attend the entire training?

You are welcome to attend on the days you can; however, it is impossible to issue partial CEUs or refunds. Our virtual trainings are live interactive training events and are not recorded for future viewing.

When will I receive CEUs?

There will be a link in the chat at the end of the training for an evaluation; this can also be e-mailed to you. Once you complete the evaluation, your CEU certificate will be e-mailed to you within days. You must have full attendance and submit the evaluation form in order to receive your certificate. We offer both NAADAC and ASWB CEs.

Note: Please be sure the name on your Zoom tile matches the name on the initial training registration; this is the name that will be on your CEU certificate. If you would like to be addressed by a different name during the training, instructions on how to add this to your Zoom tile will be given at the start of the training.

What is the difference between the facilitator guide and the workbook? Do I have to get both?

You are not required to purchase any books or materials to attend the training. After the training, if you decide to facilitate the curriculum group, your group members will need workbooks, and the group facilitator will need the facilitator guide.

Can I make copies of the workbook?

The publisher’s copyright protects all materials and may not be duplicated unless indicated otherwise.
